Here’s another outstanding swim-up suite by Karisma (I already posted about Karisma’s swim-ups at El Dorado Casitas Royale as one of the best)–hmm, I’m seeing a trend here. El Dorado Seaside Suites is an adults-only all-inclusive resort located south of the Barcelo Riviera Maya complex and Xpu-Ha beach in the Riviera Maya. All 188 rooms are suites and all suites are oceanfront–as a matter of fact, all room categories boast access to its own pool off the balcony/terrace, which means that all rooms are swim-ups.
But wait, that doesn’t mean that all swim-up suites here are created equal. I actually would recommend two room categories as being outstanding but for different reasons. If you like to be in the middle of resort pool action, make sure you book the Oceanfront Pool Swim-Up Suite. You can swim right off your terrace into the main pool which is only a short swim away from the swim-up bar. The resort pool has plenty of activities plus live music a minimum of once p/week, so count on a higher entertainment factor. The trade off is privacy–you will have no terrace privacy because anyone in the main pool can see you on your terrace.
The other room category I would recommend would be the Oceanfront Honeymoon Suite. These swim-ups are located on the highest floors which means there is a very good chance you could get the top floor if you request a room on floor 6. Top floors get the most sun (the swim-up pools below the top floor are in shade from the floor above which means the pools don’t get much sun–that means the water is cold during winter months and you probably wouldn’t get much use out of them). You don’t have to prove you are on your honeymoon so it’s not a requirement to stay in this category, but count on paying for some extras:
- access to a Romance Maitre D (butler service)
- private beach dinner
- your suite will be decorated with rose petals and aromatherapy while you are out having your dinner on the beach
- Chef’s Special gourmet breakfast room service the morning after your beach dinner
- 2 for 1 Sky Massage (that’s the multiple story beach massage structure over at the adjacent resort, El Dorado Seaside Palms)
- in-room miniature tequila bottles upon arrival
- 15% spa discount on some treatments
- one night anniversary stay voucher
If you book this room category, you will get more balcony privacy than main pool swim-ups; don’t count on total balcony privacy in any room category since these areas are open to others down the way from your room as well as any persons swimming by in the floor’s swim-up pool.
I also like the fact that staying at this resort gives you access to the El Dorado Seaside Palms–stay at one play at two. That way you have access to over 20 restaurants and bars, plus the beach is better at the Palms (less rocky).
So, what do you think? Would you book this resort and either of these swim-up categories?
