While Hyatt entered the all-inclusive resort scene fairly recently, they have done an outstanding job of providing top-notch properties and amenities for both adults and families. Hyatt Ziva properties are family-friendly, and Hyatt Zilara properties are adults-only. Cancun’s Hotel Zone offers both–this suite review will focus on Hyatt Zilara Cancun.
Hyatt took over the existing all-inclusive, THE Royal Cancun, which used to be one of Cancun’s most popular adults-only resorts. While there was much initial dismay by loyal resort regulars, Hyatt managed to retain many previous fans by keeping the property looking very similar (no major renovations), keeping on prior staff, and continuing to provide excellent food and customer service. While the resort recently underwent some room renovations, the property looks very much the same as when it was known as THE Royal Cancun.
Some outstanding features of the resort include the following:
- beachfront infinity pool with a swim-up bar and many poolside cabanas which are first-come first-served (no extra charge)
- pool foam parties
- lap pool
- heated outdoor Jacuzzis
- beach bar with swing seats
- most rooms have an ocean view (doubtful with the swim-ups, however)
- in-room liquor
- several guest room categories which offer reserved beach cabanas (reserved at no extra charge)
- large two person in-room whirlpool tubs which often have outdoor views
- six restaurants and five bars
While many resorts have a huge distinction between guest room categories, Hyatt Zilara Cancun can give guests a great view and similar room amenities when comparing many of its room categories . This is a resort, however, where I would skip on a swim-up room unless I wanted to roll out of bed and take several steps from the swim-up pool to the main pool. Front row to pool action in most swim-up suites (there is a more quiet section of swim-ups at the north end of the resort), but one cannot see the turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea too well. If you’re staying in this part of the Hotel Zone facing the Caribbean Sea, you definitely want a room where you can see all of the lovely blues in the ocean.
Here’s a short video of an Ocean View Jr. Suite King from the 3rd floor. What do you think? Would you stay here?
