I almost forgot to post about this piece of news. Now Emerald Cancun resort will be closing Aug. 1, 2023 for 10-12 months to do a complete renovation. It is expected to open summer 2024. Renovations will consist of a new building housing 118 new guest rooms, adding a theater, gym, and steakhouse restaurant, and completely renovating pretty much everything else on the property. I anticipate there will be no major changes to the main pool area, perhaps just retiling since everything else will be updated.
Now Emerald will be changing its name to a Secrets brand which means this resort will be turning into a luxury adults-only property.
Guests who have existing reservations at Now Emerald past Aug. 1, 2023 will have their reservation honored at a Dreams property. The three closest to Now Emerald would be Dreams Playa Mujeres, Dreams Sands Cancun and Dreams Vista Cancun.

The people, the staff, the service, the food fantastico!!! We were there for 10days at end of March 2023 and did not want to leave. Everything about this place was amazing. Yes, there were a few upgrades that were required, especially with leaky taps or minor water issues in the rooms; but all in all it was the best vacation!!!
We had heard about the upcoming reno’s and we certainly look forward to a return stay to feel what we felt the last time!!! We certainly hope to see the same staff as they were absolutely wonderful!
