The Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort near Puerto Morelos opened a new family-friendly upgraded section in Nov. 2017 called Ventus.  While Ventus guests have full access to Marina El Cid, it is classified as a resort on its own merits with the following amenities:

• 290 suites
• adults-only beachfront pool with adjacent Jacuzzis
• large pool for everyone with free day bed use
• its own separate lobby
• new French restaurant (age 12+)
• new “food court” consisting of seven additional restaurants (Italian, seafood, Mexican, Asian, sandwiches/salads, crepes, and a cafeteria)
• three new bars, including one beachfront bar
• Platinum upgrade which includes butler service, private beach section with bali beds/palapas, guaranteed ocean view suites, additional in-room amenities (aromatherapy, pillow menu, chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival, robes and slippers, beach bag), dedicated check-in/out section, possibility of late check-out, access to private lounge with free computer use.

While there are four new guest room buildings (#24-27), Ventus rooms also include buildings #21-23 which used to belong to Marina El Cid.  These buildings are only several years old, however, and are still in good shape

One drawback to the new Ventus–unless you upgrade to Platinum level, WiFi is still an extra charge ($15 p/device p/day or $60 p/device p/week).  Even with the upgrade, any device use is still an extra charge, but the private lounge has computers which Platinum guests can use at no cost.
