Rumor has it that there will be a $10 USD international tourist tax to be collected at the Cancun airport–whether it will be upon arrival or departure is still in question.  This tax is supposed to cover the use of “public domain assets”.

Those who oppose this measure state that tourist numbers may drop since vacationers may go to Cuba, the DR, or other islands which do not have such a tax.  I say that if a pandemic will not stop visitors from coming to Cancun, a $10 tax certainly won’t affect that number.

I don’t know yet if this tax will be collected via pesos or strictly a charge with a credit card; I will let you know when I read further on this matter.
