Modular Beachfront Suites At All-Inclusive Resorts–Anyone Heard About Them?

If you follow The Points Guy, you have most likely already read his article about the beachfront modular suites that may become part of the future of all-inclusive resorts.  (And if you haven’t heard about him, The Points Guy gives great advice on how to travel more economically by using points from credit cards, what are the best credit cards to accrue travel points, as well as other travel info–check out his website!)

Hyatt will be opening an adults-only section at a Curacao resort, Dreams Curacao Resort Spa and Casinoon June 1, 2024.  At this resort, Hyatt will be trying something new–52 oceanfront modular units will be set up in lieu of standard hotel/resort rooms.  The modular unit accommodations at this Dreams resort are called Kabina Suites; they are 334 sq. feet, have a king bed, bathroom, terrace with ocean views, and access to everything at the resort and then some!

The million dollar question is–will the rest of the resort guests like them as well?  Depends on where they are placed, obviously…if you place these units in areas that obstruct other guest’s views they will not be well received.  I guess time will tell as to what will happen with this.

If this works out well for Hyatt at their Curacao location, you can bet they will start using them at other locations. (Rates for these units at the new Dreams resort start at $609 USD p/night for 2 adults without using points). Those who follow all-inclusive offerings in Cancun and the Riviera Maya already know that Hyatt now owns a whole lot of resort property in that area of Mexico after buying the AMR Collection!  What do you think will happen with this project?  Boom or bust?  Do you think it will change the “landscape” of all-inclusive resorts?

Here’s the article about the units, it has computer generated pics so you can get an idea of what they will look like inside and out.
