I stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres several years ago in a Preferred Club Jr. Suite; if I ever return here, the Preferred Club Master Suite Swim-Out would be a great alternative to match my vacation favorites–a swim-up suite with lots of space plus an ocean view. Perfect.
Let’s start with a quick overview of the resort. Located in the Playa Mujeres area north of downtown Cancun, the family-friendly Dreams PM offers 502 guest suites (all with bathroom bluetooth device so that you can play your favorite tunes), 10 restaurants, 13 bars (including childrens, spa, and Preferred Club bars–check-out the Grotto bar with its waterfall), a coffee/pastries/ice cream shop, 65,000 sq. feet of pools, on-site disco, theater, water slides for everyone, children’s and teen clubs, complimentary greens fees at the nearby golf course, plus two beach bars right ON the beach. This is one of those resorts where it’s worth upgrading to Preferred Club, here’s what you get for the upgrade: access to the lazy river and bar, access to the beach Bali beds (first-come first-served), closer pool/beach room location, exclusive breakfast access in the Maris restaurant (best a la carte breakfast ever), complimentary hydrotherapy circuit at the spa, access to the Preferred Club Lounge, and additional room amenities. Plus, adults staying at this Dreams location get to venture next door during the day to check out Secrets Playa Mujeres. While it’s some distance to the activity and nightlife of Cancun, Dreams PM is very self-contained and offers guests many things to do to keep them occupied and happy with their vacation choice.
Let it not be said that this resort lacks in guest room choice. There are 16 separate room categories, and all of them are quite lovely with great amenities and relaxing decor. However, it all depends on what kind of “nice” you are looking for. The Master Suite Swim-Out with Ocean View includes the best for those who like easy access to a pool and lots of in-room space. This particular suite has a separate living room area which can be closed off for privacy, lots of storage space, sleeps three (there is a sofa bed), has a large bathroom with an additional half-bath, and a giant terrace with lots of furniture including a full lounger, day bed, and table and chairs. You have to go up a couple of stairs in order to step into the pool, but there are railings for support. This room is located on the second floor, so the ocean view is not obstructed in any major way (obstructed views are typical of regular swim-ups).
Here’s the video done by Vacation Couple; they do a thorough job of explaining everything available in the suite. What do you think? Would you stay here? (If you would like to know more about this resort, you can read my resort review here).
