Remember Hacienda Tres Rios? I’ve almost completely forgotten about this very special all-inclusive resort but that’s because it’s been closed since the end of 2023 for a complete renovation. In Nov. 2024 the resort changed to a Kimpton property (this is Kimpton’s first venture into the all-inclusive market), and Kimpton is under the Playa Resorts umbrella, so you can expect major changes in terms of the renovation. The resort is now called Kimpton Tres Rios, check out the computer generated pics on the resort website to see what it will look like with 7 restaurants, 5 bars, 4 pools, and an adults-only guest room tower or watch the video below done by Life and Travel.
What makes this resort special? First of all, the resort is situated within a nature park called Tres Rios Nature Park which offers 3 freshwater rivers flowing through it and emptying into the ocean along with walking and cycling trails and multiple cenotes. This park consists of 3 different ecosystems including jungle, mangrove forest, and coastal dunes, plus it is home to 120 different species of plants and 90 species of animals. The new Kimpton is also aiming to be as eco-friendly as possible which means guests will leave less of a carbon footprint while vacationing. It’s a great choice for those looking to mix a luxurious setting while enjoying nature at its best in this part of Mexico.
While bookings are supposed to be open for resort stays starting August 6, 2025 when the renovations are scheduled to be completed, the resort website was not able to bring up any room possibilities even into 2026 when I attempted to make a booking So, I’m not sure whether or not wholesalers list this property or if TA’s can even book it…I will keep you posted.
