For those of you who are already familiar with the adults-only El Dorado properties, you already know about the well-regarded El Dorado Royale resort. It’s been a popular choice for middle age couples for years with many guests being return guests because of the following–larger guest rooms and suites, private outdoor guest room shower areas, Fuentes Culinary Theater (for you foodies this is a must attend), lovely jungle setting, and complimentary Bali beds. This resort is perfect for couples looking for a more romantic vibe while still enjoying opportunities to make new friends and have fun while on vacation in a beautiful setting.
But perhaps you don’t know that El Dorado Royale is making some important changes on the property to enhance guests’ experiences. They are really more of a cosmetic nature with restaurant and lobby refurbishment along with improved guest room lighting. The resort is not closing as a result of these changes, but you may want to wait on your booking for a couple of months to allow them time to finish their projects. The website is offering discounts right now for stays through the end of 2027, so give it a look and see what you think.

FYI: In case you aren’t familiar with this property you may wonder what the concrete blocks are doing out in the ocean. This project was called “Kan-Kanán” which means the guarding serpent in Mayan. It is an artificial reef completed in 2015 meant to significantly slow down beach erosion as well as regenerate the marine ecosystem in this part of the Riviera Maya coastline. So, beach lovers that must swim in the ocean while on vacation may not find this property to be a good fit. However, it is a great contender for vacationers more interested in “pool life” than ocean experiences.
