Finest Playa Mujeres Imperial Suite–A Suite Review

I have fond memories of this resort.  I first stayed here around 2015 in an upgraded Excellence Club Swim-Up Suite and thought it was a fabulous resort in terms of service, food, and amenities. My opinion still hasn’t changed.  In fact, I’d place Excellence Collection Resorts as being among the top two resort chains in Cancun and the Riviera Maya (sorry, but my number one spot is claimed by Grupo Experiencias Xcaret with their wildly popular beginner resort, Hotel Xcaret Mexico–can’t wait for the opening of their new upcoming resorts which are currently being built right next door so to speak from Hotel Xcaret, La Casa de la Playa and Hotel Xcaret Arte).

But I digress.  Probably in part due to the fact that I’m sitting in my hotel room at LAX looking forward to my trip tomorrow to Cancun!  Let me get back to the business at hand.  Finest Playa Mujeres is basically a luxury family-friendly resort with an option to book an adults-only guest room section.  The suite I’m highlighting is the Imperial Suite; granted, it’s about a thousand a night, but life is worth a splurge now and again, right?  This would definitely be one of my splurges.  (For those of you daunted by the price, take a look at the Two-Story Rooftop Plunge Pool Suites–they are beautiful and almost half the price of the Imperial Suite.  Oh, and by the way, the swim-up suites aren’t so bad, either!)

The Imperial Suite is available in both the Excellence Club and Finest Club upgraded suite categories (Excellence Club is an upgrade for adults-only, while Finest Club is an upgrade within the family-friendly guest room section).  Imperial Suites are 3,400 sq. feet of space (that’s larger than my entire house)–just the outdoor terrace area alone is 600 sq. feet.  Suite amenities include the following:

  • separate living room
  • separate bedroom
  • two large flat screen TV’s
  • bar area which includes four bottles of liquor and bottles of wine, higher quality of tequila in a unique Mexican-inspired dispenser
  • large bathroom area including a behemoth shower with a super large rainforest showerhead (no kidding, the shower alone looks like it can fit half a dozen people in there easily)
  • half-bathroom
  • room service box (I love this amenity, great for placing dirty room service dishes out of your sight as well as deter ants from your actual living space)
  • fully stocked mini-bar with mega-snack selection
  • outdoor terrace with your own large pool and outdoor furniture, including pool flotations

The primary negative with this category of Imperial Suites–your upstairs neighbors (usually Two-Story Rooftop Terrace With Plunge Pool Imperial Suite guests) may have a view of your pool and part of your terrace, so there’s not complete privacy.  The plus side, however, is that you can potentially hide away here for your entire stay and not feel crowded.  How would it be to subsist primarily on room service alone in this large space?  I’d be willing to tough it out and find out for everyone….(I’ve seen the Room Service menu, people, and it would not be that difficult).

Here’s the video of the Imperial Suite with its own pool.  Hope you enjoy; I certainly did.  The appeal of the suite category along with the resort memories should hold me over until tomorrow afternoon.

What do you think?  Would you stay here?
