E-Gates Are Now In Use At Cancun Airport….

FYI:  As of Jan. 21, there have been 14 ePassport gates installed at Terminal 3 and 4 installed at Terminal 4.

Looks like the new immigration e-gates are now being used at the Cancun airport..  The video below highlights what is involved in this new process.  Immigration e-gates are only for those who have biometric passports (those which have a small camera printed on their passport cover)–the video shows you what that looks like.  Those who have older passports which don’t have a digital chip will still have to stand in line and have immigration staff ask a few questions about your stay, then stamp your passport and you are on your way to collect baggage and get your transport.

Make sure you watch the video until the end, there are some handy pieces of information you may want to be informed about–I did not know that if you want to buy bottles of alcohol at the terminal after going through immigration you are bound by the same rules as when you leave to go back home, but if you buy bottles of alcohol in any shops outside the terminal those rules do not apply.

See you in Cancun!
