Conde Nast completed their own Reader’s Choice Awards, and here are the winners for Best Resorts in Eastern Mexico (I’ve only listed the ones which are all-inclusive):
- Coming in at #1 is Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun, one of my personal faves. I’ve been there twice and loved it both times. I would definitely go back again for the pools, ocean views, Aqua Club Lounge, and motorized black-out blinds!! (Psst, if you book a suite you get a complimentary Bali bed and foot massage for all days of your stay…)
- Coming in at #3 is Viceroy Riviera Maya (this one was first in Travel and Leisure’s best of..). A great resort for those who want seclusion, a private pool, and a great bathroom in each suite.
- Coming in at #9 is UNICO 2087. This resort has some of the nicest suites of most all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya. Enjoy your view from your balcony tub…
- Coming in at #11 is Hotel Xcaret Mexico. I cannot believe this resort didn’t come in closer to #1. Hotel Xcaret Mexico is an excellent choice with its All-Fun Inclusive plan–pay one price which covers not only your all-inclusive resort stay, but admission to parks and select excursions. This resort is nothing but eye candy everywhere and unexpected surprises–a cave restaurant, an exquisite Sunday brunch, and a rooftop pool.
- Coming in at #12 is Royalton Riviera Cancun. This is surprising since their beach is not the best (given its location north of Puerto Morelos). While this is a family-friendly resort, there are upgraded sections including an adults-only section.
- Coming in at #14 is Grand Residences Riviera Cancun. Another surprise…this is a smaller all-inclusive resort with rooms and suites that look very much like fully equipped upgraded American condos.
- Coming in at #17 is Hard Rock Hotel Cancun. A family-friendly resort in a great part of the Hotel Zone, close to the Party Zone and with a great party atmosphere of its own. There has been some reduction in amenities, however, for general guests; some areas have been allocated for timeshare members instead.
- Coming in at #19 is Excellence Playa Mujeres. This resort has already been winning reader’s choice awards with Trip Advisor for years. It’s a great choice for adults who want the option of rooftop suites each with its own private pool, in-room liquor, top-notch food, and more of a playful party-like atmosphere.
- Coming in at #20 is another Excellence resort, Excellence Riviera Cancun. It’s located next to Dreams Riviera Cancun near Puerto Morelos. This beautiful adults-only resort offers six pools, a great choice of restaurants, plus the ability to swim into the spa–that’s an amenity I haven’t heard of at any other all-inclusive resort in this area.
Well, what do you think? Any resort listed here you would disagree with as being within the top 20?
