The votes are in and here’s the winners in Eastern Mexico’s Top 20 Best Resorts 2022 according to the most recent Conde Nast reader’s poll. I’ve only included the all-inclusive/all-inclusive optional resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
- Palmaia–The House of Aia ranked #5. This is an all-inclusive resort on Playacar beach in the Riviera Maya. This is a unique wellness resort.
- Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya ranked #10. This is an all-inclusive optional resort within the larger Mayakoba resort in the Riviera Maya.
- Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun ranked #13. This is one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts in this part of Mexico. It is located within Cancun’s Hotel Zone facing the Caribbean Sea.
- Excellence Playa Mujeres ranked #14. This is a favorite of many adults who want relaxed luxury in a fun adults-only setting. Excellence Collection resorts are some of the best all-inclusive resorts in this part of Mexico.
- Mahekal Beach Resort ranked #15. This is an all-inclusive optional resort located just north of Playa del Carmen with easy access to the heart of all the action in PDC.
- Hotel Xcaret Mexico ranked #17. This is an all-inclusive resort located south of Playa del Carmen. I stayed here when it first opened and it is one of the best all-inclusive resorts I’ve ever stayed at anywhere. It is a unique resort in that it operates under the “All-Fun Inclusive” policy–you can take numerous excursions and have unlimited access to all the famous parks in this part of Mexico without paying additional entrance fees or excursion prices. When you pay to stay here you also pay to have fun off property. Personally, I think this resort should have ranked a LOT higher.
- Viceroy Riviera Maya ranked #18. This resort is an all-inclusive optional property located just north of Playa del Carmen. If you want luxury amenities with your own terrace private pool in a jungle setting, this is your resort.
- Excellence Riviera Cancun ranked #20. This all-inclusive resort is located north of Puerto Morelos in the Riviera Maya. While the beach may not always be pristine (beaches around Puerto Morelos tend not to be the best in comparison to other Riviera Maya beaches), the property is gorgeous with luxury amenities and a loyal following. Again, Excellence Collection resorts are some of the best all-inclusive properties in this part of Mexico.
In next year’s results, look for Secrets Moxche, Haven Riviera Cancun, and another of Hoteles Xcaret properties (Hotel Xcaret Arte or La Casa de la Playa) to join the list.
What do you think? Do you agree with the listing? Which all-inclusive resort would you add and why?
Mahekal is not an all-inclusive resort.
I should have stated it was an all-inclusive optional resort. I just looked at their website and they state they have an all-inclusive package available. I also did a dummy booking and they have rates for room only, room and breakfast, and all-inclusive package.
