Best Lazy River in Cancun?

I’ve now stayed at enough resorts with lazy rivers to know when I come across a good one–and when I come across one which is advertised as a lazy river when it’s not really one at all.  And the best one I’ve experienced is (drum roll) the Blue Lagoon Grotto  Bar and lazy river at Planet Hollywood Cancun.

The current is decent so no real lag times but not so fast that you feel you are in a washing machine (has anyone done the so-called “lazy” river at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas?  I literally thought I wasn’t going to come out of there still breathing at a couple of spots).  The resort provides lots of floating devices (singles and doubles) but you can use your own.  Does anyone know know to get to the adjacent waterslide?  Let me know because if I ever go back I’d like to try it out–it doesn’t look too intimidating.  This lazy river also has multiple waterfalls and splash buckets so that’s a nice feature during hot weather.

But the biggest draw to this lazy river is the Blue Lagoon Grotto Bar.  It’s located about halfway through the lazy river “route”, if there’s enough room you can float right up to the bar and order a drink, but most people temporarily ditch their floatie and walk up to the bar to order.  You don’t have to be in the lazy river to order a drink, you can also walk up to the bar through a separate entrance and sit and watch people figure out how to maneuver their flotation device through the crowd regardless of whether or not they will be getting a drink.  It can literally be a traffic jam at some times.

Below is a video done by Wandering around with Mee which highlights this lazy river and the Blue Lagoon Grotto Bar.  Have fun!
