New remodel in PDC, courtesy Riviera Maya News

The next 150 days will see a renovation of parts of Playa del Carmen’s famous 5th Avenue.  Renovations are targeted primarily for Parque Fundadores, part of the city center with the well recognized Portal Maya sculpture.  Here’s some of the renovations planned:

• park limits will be expanded and more defined
• ramps will be added from the Cozumel ferry pier to Juarez Avenue making the park more accessible to everyone
• creating a large amphitheater by Portal Maya and the church
• new paving stones
• better lighting
• new benches
• better beach access
• removal of non-functioning ATM’s, public phone booths, and certain commercial structures
