Bel Air Collection Hotel and Spa Cancun

The Bel Air Collection in Cancun is a boutique-like resort located at the southern end of the Hotel Zone about 10 min. from the airport.  The hotel has a chic and trendy European ambience with modern, minimalist design concepts (think oval cushioned loungers and round chairs).  Most architectural features and décor, both indoors and out, are white with the occasional red accent; purple and pink mood lighting is also used in guest rooms.  Suites offer in-room Jacuzzi tubs with a view from the picture window, while standard rooms are basic in décor with outdated TV’s in some guest rooms.  The selling point of this resort is the infinity pool with its sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea along with the beautiful white sand beach.  The resort has a unique pool Jacuzzi which is directly adjacent to the swim-up bar, while built-in tables and chairs are off to the side which offer great pool and ocean views.

Pro:  Boutique hotel atmosphere, infinity pool, free WiFi

Con:  Limited dining options, no evening entertainment to speak of

Best Suited For:  This is a relaxing and meditative resort without all the “bells and whistles” to distract its guests.  Couples who enjoy minimalist, contemporary décor with a European vibe will most likely enjoy staying here.

Restaurants/Bars:  Although technically there are three restaurant offerings, there are really only two actual restaurants–the lobby sushi bar and the a la carte restaurant which offers two separate menus, one for each side of the restaurant which is separated by a beaded curtain.  The a la carte menus offer Italian/Mexican and international fusion dining fare.  There are two bars–the lobby bar and the swim-up Jacuzzi bar in the pool.

Entertainment:  This resort is a quiet, couples-oriented vacation experience and offers little in the way of entertainment outside of some occasional live music.
