Many vacationers looking for the nirvana experience of staying at a luxury resort with really good food are disappointed when their resort doesn’t live up to their expectations. And so the search continues with many more disappointing experiences for them.
First of all, if you are really into the all-inclusive vacation concept you need to change your expectations concerning food. If you want Michelin star quality with Michelin star chefs you will have to pay for it so don’t expect to get it when staying at more budget-friendly resorts. Even when staying at very popular (and considered to be more of a luxury resort brand) like Secrets or Excellence resorts you will always find that some dishes are better than others. The only resorts I have personal experience with that I thought had great food overall was at Hotel Xcaret Mexico/Arte and Atelier Playa Mujeres. SLS Playa Mujeres also had great food but I didn’t enjoy the overall resort experience. Live Aqua Cancun’s food was also very good but again some dishes were better than others.
There is another alternative for those all-inclusive lovers looking for excellent food options. Those who follow luxury brands know about Fairmont Mayakoba, a family-friendly resort located in the Riviera Maya. This resort is part of a megaresort complex so not every resort at this location offers an AI package; that means that some items/amenities at the Mayakoba may have an extra charge even with an AI optional meal plan.
I have not stayed at this resort so I cannot offer a first hand opinion; however, one of my favorite vloggers, 3 Days 3 Noches, has recently stayed here and has posted a video about her experience. Check it out and see if this is the resort for you or you and your family. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve stayed here and what you thought or if you are thinking of staying here.
See you in Cancun!
