For those of you who’ve already stayed at Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, you already know that this resort is a beautiful adults-only property located on a great stretch of beach north of Playa del Carmen.  It has one of the largest resort pools in the entire area and couples usually rave about their stay with many of them being repeat visitors.  If you are looking for a larger resort that has more of a Mexico (think Mexican Colonial) feel than contemporary architecture this may be your next vacation home away from home.

This resort recently added a brand new room category, Dunas Private Pool Suites, which are located beachfront with great ocean views.  As the name indicates, each of these suites has its own private plunge pool, also with an awesome view, plus it looks like you can see the ocean from the bed when the curtains are open and that is certainly a plus.  For those of you who care about bathroom privacy, there’s only an automated shade on one side which means the side nearest the suite entry will be open to anyone who is in that area, so limited bathroom privacy here.

Personally I prefer the Emerald Suites, they may not be as oceanfront as the Dunas Suites, but there’s something about sitting in your own bathroom Jacuzzi and having a beach view which seems more relaxing to me.  This suite looks amazing but there are some Dunas suites which may feel somewhat claustrophobic when trying to enjoy your plunge pool.
