FYI: This attraction is ONLY FOR GUESTS of the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort.
Need more fun on your vacation? The Barcelo Maya Grand mega-resort has a new distinction–they are the first resort in the Riviera Maya to add an adventure park on-site. It’s called Ventura Fly and Ride Park, and it looks like it’s built primarily off the main entrance. The park is only open to resort guests, and resort guests must purchase a pass to enter. The park is open all year long, seven days a week, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Day passes start at $79 p/adult and $59 p/child.
The park consists of two main sections (Fly Adventure and Ride Adventure), with the following attractions available in each section:
Fly Adventures
- Aquazip: a zipline which ends with you in the water. If you’ve ever done the water ziplines at Xplor this is similar.
- Airborne Ziplines: seven separate ziplines at higher altitudes. If I survived ziplines in Roatan these should be a piece of cake.
- Tarzania: combination zipline/roller coaster where riders are suspended under a metal rail and travel approximately 1,250 feet.
- Plane Coaster: a gravity-driven roller coaster which begins at approximately 100 feet up in the air.
- Bungee Swing: step off an airplane wing at 35 feet and see what happens (I read you wind up upside down at some point, but don’t worry you will be firmly strapped into a harness).
- Parachute landing: a free-fall experience.
- Rope Courses: you will travel over some challenging rope bridges while harnessed.
- Netland: looks like this section is primarily for kids.
Ride Adventures
- Go Karts Drifts: single and double seat go kart ride. Looks pretty slow.
- Quad Cycle: peddle-powered vehicle similar to a go kart. More my speed and all the exercise I require while vacationing.
- Off Road Polaris: off-road circuit driving which looks extremely rough in parts. Probably not a good idea for people with back/neck issues.
Since I will be staying at the new adults-only section at this mega-resort next February, I plan on checking out this park as well. Take a look at the video and see what you think–would you visit this park?
