Due to high fuel costs, Ultramar Ferry service reports it has cut several daily crossings from Cancun to Isla Mujeres/Isla Mujeres to Cancun. The following departure times have been eliminated starting April 15, 2019:
(Gran Puerto ferry dock to Isla Mujeres): 5 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
(Isla Mujeres to Gran Puerto ferry dock): 5:30 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:15 a.m., and 1 p.m.
None of the other ferry dock departures in Cancun or Isla Mujeres have been affected.
For those of you wondering where the Gran Puerto ferry dock is located, you can find it outside of the Hotel Zone traveling north on the main road to Playa Mujeres/Costa Mujeres. All public transportation drivers know exactly where it is located, so don’t worry about getting lost unless you are driving, and then you wouldn’t be taking the Gran Puerto ferry anyway–you would be taking the ferry from the Punta Sam ferry dock 10 min. north of Gran Puerto which transports vehicles over to the island. (FYI: avoid taking your car over to the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres–streets are overly congested as it is, just rent a golf cart to get around or hire a driver to give you a tour like I did on my last visit). Gran Puerto dock is often referred to as Puerto Juárez, even on the Ultramar Ferry website. The current r/t ticket price is $300 pesos (around $16 USD p/adult).
