Technical Issue Resolved…

The problem with my blog comment section has been resolved, you can feel free to go ahead and post comments again.  Also I will be offline for a week since I will be on a cruise to the southern Caribbean on Royal Caribbean’s Serenity of the Seas.  So if you email me or leave a comment I will not be available until March 10.

See you in Cancun!  Unless you will be cruising with me next week, of course.

  1. Hello Margaret,
My son and family invited us ( parents) to Dreams Sands Resort and Spa. He has 2 childrem ages 5 and 7. I am excited but I am 70 and am a little nervous about getting ill from food or water. We have been to Mexico with my parents when they lived in Yuma, Az but I think that is a little differenent and its just across the border.
I am curious if you have any info on the normal concerns people from the US have going to Mexico; food, drinks, safety, saftey tips on tours taking children, somethin the average traveler would not think to do or be awsre it is there.

This is a great site for info, just coul not access a couple of blogs that would be helpful for me.

I appreciate your time and all your efforts!

    Sincerely,
    Barb

    • Barb: Sorry for the delay in responding, I was on a cruise and recently returned. I wrote a blog article on how to stay safe regarding food and drink so here’s the link https://allinclusivegal.com/what-to-know-about-staying-at-an-all-inclusive-resort-part-2-staying-safe-while-eating-and-drinking-at-all-inclusive-resorts/. I tend to only drink bottled water while at a resort and eat as much food from live cooking stations as possible; I never eat sushi from a buffet. Ice is safe at resorts because they order their ice from ice companies these days, carry small bottles of hand sanitizer so you can sanitize your hand before and after handling serving utensils when utilizing the buffet. This Dreams resort is located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone which is a safe area, don’t worry about safety unless you are walking the city sidewalks in the wee hours. I’ve taken many public buses in the Hotel Zone to get around in this area, they are only $1 p/person per ride. If you book excursions through the resort, there are several which are geared towards younger children–the dinner show cruise such as the Jolly Roger Pirate show which leaves from the end of the Hotel Zone and is further down the road from this Dreams resort. If you want to expose the children to some Mayan history without traveling all day to Chichen Itza, there is an archeological museum which is interesting in the Hotel Zone called Museo Maya de Cancun, that one is located south of Isla Mall on the southern side of the Hotel Zone. Ventura Park is a water park south of the museum for a fun day enjoying water fun activities. Sky Wheel Cancun is giant ferris wheel which is located at Isla Mall in the Hotel Zone as well. Don’t worry, have fun and follow the same safety rules you’d follow at home.
