If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort in Cancun’s Hotel Zone which has many restaurant and bar choices, a more lively atmosphere with lots of entertainment possibilities, and the lengthiest pool in Cancun (it’s a quarter-mile long and meanders beachfront), then staying at The Pyramid at Grand Cancun could be your kind of vacation destination.
The Pyramid is just part of this Oasis property–it’s like a mega-resort but on a smaller scale. The entire resort is most often referred to as Grand Oasis Cancun, while The Pyramid and Oasis Cancun Lite share resort space. FYI: If you are considering this property at all, I would recommend booking a room only at The Pyramid. This is a VERY popular spring break resort and students generally stay in Grand Cancun and Oasis Cancun Lite rooms which receive a lot more wear and tear. If you want to book The Pyramid but don’t want to deal with spring breakers, avoid staying here during the months of February, March, and April.
The Pyramid is considered to be the VIP hotel at this resort and, as such, guests get access to certain amenities that others do not. First of all, you will get the coveted “black wristband” which means you will have access to six additional restaurants (the rest of the resort offers 11 restaurants), four additional bars (the rest of the resort offers 10 bars), access to the Sian Ka’an Beach Club, along with access to the popular Red Circus Show held in The Pyramid’s lobby (it’s like a Cirque du Soleil show).
The primary negative here, overall, is twofold–don’t come here expecting gourmet food, and anticipate that drinks will be less than potent. For the vacation money you spend vs. the amenities you receive, this can turn out to be a bargain.
Check out the Sian Ka’an Master Suite at The Pyramid–a separate bedroom, large living room with bar area, in-room Jacuzzi tub, and a balcony Jacuzzi (make sure you request ocean view). There weren’t many other videos of this room category, but this one should give you an idea of the total space available in the suite.
What do you think? Would you stay here?
