Here’s another all-inclusive resort which will give you a rooftop terrace to enjoy…The Hard Rock Riviera Maya resort is located a one hr. and 20 min. drive south of the Cancun airport. It has two sections–the adults-only side (Heaven), and the family-friendly side (Hacienda). For anyone who is familiar with the Hard Rock brand, you know that this resort offers all kinds of cool amenities including music experiences (the Music Lab which gives guests the opportunity to try out what it’s like to be a DJ or play in a band), the Woodward facilities which give guests the opportunity to participate in action sports such as BMX bike riding or skateboarding, and a nightclub which includes a pool–don’t forget to bring your swimsuit…
Both resort sections offer rooftop suites. The major difference between each section’s offering of rooftop suites is the issue of a half-bathroom on the rooftop terrace–the Heaven section Deluxe Sky Terrace suites do NOT have a bathroom up there, plus the terrace is very small. If you want a rooftop suite that is oceanfront, you can book one in each section no matter where you are staying at the resort. It may be easier to actually get an oceanfront rooftop suite in the Hacienda section since there is a separate room category which offers that amenity, but the Heaven section does have a limited number of them available within the Two Bedroom Rock Suite Platinum category.
Here’s what to look for when booking. The family-friendly Hacienda section has the following room categories which have a rooftop terrace suite:
- Deluxe Sky Terrace One Bedroom
- Deluxe Grand Sky Terrace Two Bedroom
- Rock Suite Oceanfront Rooftop Lounge Two Bedroom With Personal Assistant. Check out the separate living and dining room areas, much more room to move around and enjoy your stay while in your suite.
The adults-only Heaven section has the following room categories which have a rooftop terrace suite:
- Deluxe Sky Terrace One Bedroom (no rooftop half-bathroom)
- Rock Suite Platinum Rooftop Lounge Two Bedroom With Personal Assistant. I like the option of having another staircase to the rooftop terrace from the main balcony. Plus, you get a separate living and dining room area plus a very large main balcony.
My personal opinion about the rooms in general at this resort is that they feel claustrophobic. I would definitely book the Two Bedroom option even if I were only traveling with a significant other, but that’s just my own preference. If you can only afford a one bedroom and don’t mind limited room space then I would think about booking the Deluxe Sky Terrace in the Hacienda section.
Below is a video of the Heaven section Rock Suite Platinum Rooftop Lounge Two Bedroom room category. It’s done in kind of a rush, but you get a basic idea of what the overall space is like. Take a look and let me know if you would stay at this resort or think about booking this suite category…
