I just became aware that Riu Palace Peninsula will be closing for renovations starting April 6, 2026.  The projected reopening date will be anywhere from July 25 to August 8, 2026.

A full renovation is planned including rooms, pools, bars, new restaurant and eating options, and the addition of an Elite Club area.  I hope they don’t get rid of the Suite Jacuzzi rooms, that is one awesome room category in a budget-friendly resort.  If you want to read my resort review of this particular property you can access it here.
