After quite a bit of time spent scouring resort Kid’s Club offerings, here’s a summary of which Cancun/Riviera Maya all-inclusive resorts cater to babies. That doesn’t mean this is an exhaustive list by any means, but it is a good place to start if you want to travel to this area of Mexico with a very young one. I have written a separate blog post about each one of these resorts and their baby-friendly amenities, so check out those older blog posts if you are interested.
First of all, it’s important to remember that most all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya have Kid’s Clubs which start providing services to children ages 4+. Many of these resorts, especially the luxury ones, offer some outstanding children’s amenities and services. If you have a very young one and want to vacation here as a family the pickings are slim. However, you can still find baby-friendly resorts and don’t necessarily have to spend a fortune to have a great family vacation. Keep in mind that most resorts will provide a crib upon request, but even that is not a guarantee, and other baby amenities are not assured either at resorts in general in this area.
Here are the top resort contenders I found with Baby Clubs or baby-friendly amenities:
- Probably the best resort with overall baby-friendly amenities and offerings is Grand Palladium Riviera Maya. This is a mega-resort and the Kid’s Club/Baby Club is located at the Colonial; all resorts share Kid’s Club amenities. The highlight of this Baby Club is the ability to drop off your baby for a couple of hours to have some couple time/quiet time to enjoy the resort or just nap. The negative at this resort would be the age allowed–the Baby Club is for children age 1+.
- Another Grand Palladium resort with a Baby Club is Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres. Again, the same rules apply as at the GP Riviera Maya–you can drop off your baby for a couple of hours but the Baby Club is for children age 1+. This resort offers an upgraded section, Family Selection, which has additional amenities for children; families with very young children can certainly book this section but probably won’t be able to take full advantage of the child-friendly amenities included with the upgrade.
- Finest Playa Mujeres Mini-Club accepts ages 0-6, but children up to age 2 have to be accompanied by a parent at all times. It is open until 8 p.m., another plus; the resort also offers an extensive choice of baby amenities such as strollers, bottle warmers, changing tables, etc. at no extra cost.
- Crown Paradise Club Cancun has a Baby Club for children ages 18 mos. to 3 yrs. Children under 18 mos. can still visit but have to accompanied by a parent at all times. This resort does not offer multiple baby amenities such as strollers, etc.
- Seadust Cancun has a Baby Club for children ages 18 mos. to 4 yrs. Children under 18 mos. are not allowed at the Baby Club, however.
- Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun doesn’t have an official Baby Club, but it does offer a plethora of baby-friendly amenities at no extra charge including Pack ‘N Plays, strollers, baby bathtubs, and even baby food. Parents can still bring their babies/toddlers younger than age 4 to the Kid’s Club here but they must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
- Generations Riviera Maya also lacks a dedicated Baby Club, but like Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun (these two resorts are both members of the same Karisma resort chain) the resort offers baby-friendly amenities at no extra charge. The major plus at this resort for families in general is the multiple bedroom suites available for extended families to vacation together and share connecting rooms.
- Hyatt Ziva Cancun is mostly for ages 4+, but their Kid’s Club offers families with younger children access to the Kid’s Club during specific Family Time hours (9-11, 1-2, and 4-5 p.m.).
Also, I found some older info which indicated the Hard Rock Riviera Maya, while not having a Baby Club, did offer extensive baby amenities but for an extra charge. However, I could not find current info about this offering so I don’t know if it still exists. Club Med Cancun is completely renovating their Kids Club spaces, including the Baby Club space, but it is an extra cost if babies use the actual facility (Baby Welcome amenities are not an extra charge, however). The best Club Med for babies in Mexico is at Ixtapa (a great resort by the way) but even that is an extra charge nowdays.
Don’t forget that if you choose to use any of the Baby Clubs/Kid’s Clubs/Teen Clubs at resorts, you must sign your child up in advance in order to use these facilities. The resort needs to know in advance how many staff to have available to adequately cover care for the number of children who plan to take advantage of this type of amenity.
