Looks like it’s going to be a difficult sargassum season for vacationers this year.  If you will be vacationing in the Riviera Maya, expect large deposits of the stuff to lie just offshore, even Cancun’s Hotel Zone has already been hit by these deposits.

Here’s a short drone video update of the sargassum situation near Playa del Carmen–if you are familiar with where Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen, Wyndham Alltra PDC, and Devossion resorts are located, that areas is being highlighted in the video below.  It doesn’t look horrid, but sargassum can quickly arrive and leave depending on the currents and weather conditions.
