Outstanding Swim-Ups–Serenity Club Jr. Suite Oceanfront Swim-Out at Haven Riviera Cancun

I just got back from my latest Mexico trip and discovered a truly great category of swim-up/out suite.  Haven Riviera Cancun is a gorgeous five star resort (a complete resort review to be posted soon) with a large amount of swim-out suites (88 I believe) located throughout the property.  I stayed in an upgraded Serenity Club Jr. Suite Swim-Out Oceanfront and thought it was the best swim-out suite I’d ever experienced.  Let me share with you why I think you cannot go wrong booking this suite category.

Most individuals who read my blog know that I treasure a good swim-up suite (I use the term swim-up/swim-out interchangeably since there is really no difference between the two in this part of Mexico).  With this suite category you get the best of both the resort and your room.  Here are the benefits of booking this swim-up:

  • access to Serenity Club amenities including oceanfront room locations, private check-in area which has some wines, including sparkling wine, and limited snacks, access to the actual Serenity Club Lounge from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (the Lounge is different than check-in and can be located on the first floor around the corner from Haven Bar and Lounge), choice of in-room aromatherapy scents, free 30 min. hydrotherapy treatment, spa treatment discounts, and complimentary greens fee plus golf cart use at El Tinto golf course.
  • Serenity Club guests also have an outdoor restaurant exclusively for them at Vistas which is located above the “quiet pool” (the round pool).  It’s open for breakfast and lunch.  I sampled a sirloin burger (it comes with fries) plus some sushi from their Mayan Sushi Roll–all delicious and all just for Serenity Club guests, plus the restaurant’s upstairs location allows for great pool, resort, and ocean views.
  • you get butler service.  I had a very good butler who would check in with me daily to see if I needed anything.
  • while the room is categorized as a Jr. Suite Swim-Out, it seems to have much more than 603 sq. feet.  The bathroom is HUGE with a small walk-in closet area, and the large terrace has a sun shelf and two full loungers plus a table and chairs.
  • swim-ups are HEATED.  Yay!
  • whether you are sitting on the terrace enjoying room service breakfast like I did or peacefully contemplating the view from the infinity edge swim-out, you have an oceanfront location.
  • terraces have quite lengthy sliding doors which, when opened, give an indoor/outdoor living experience.  Be aware that if you leave your sliding door open your floors will get slippery and your mirrors will get fogged up, but that is typical for ANY air conditioned room in this part of hot and humid Mexico.
  • you get an ocean view while lying in your comfortable king bed.  A great way to wake up.
  • in-room liquor.  You get to choose one bottle of liquor p/guest, but be aware that the bottles are small, and if you want more you have to pay extra to replace your original bottles or get more in-room liquor added to your original two bottles.
  • you can order drinks from your terrace.  It doesn’t happen with any frequency in building 1, but I did have several bar waitresses come by and ask if I wanted anything to drink during my stay.  If you tip generously I’m sure they would make the attempt to visit more frequently…

Serenity Club Swim-Outs are located in buildings 1, 4, and 5.  Building 1 (where I stayed) is the quietest location with no guest walkways between you and the beach.  Both buildings 4 and 5 have beachfront walkways fairly close to the swim-outs which is great for guests who are curious about the swim-outs but not good if you like terrace privacy.  You do get better ocean views in buildings 4 and 5 since the walkways prevent a lot of flora from partially obstructing total ocean views.  I personally enjoyed staying in building 1 for the privacy factor even with the flora which obstructed some of my ocean view, while those who want more of a party atmosphere typically request a swim-out in building 4.  FYI:  You may want to temporarily skip staying in building 5 since the resort is adding over 100 Serenity Club suites and conference facilities next door in their current construction.  I never heard any excessive noise coming from that direction, but better to be safe than sorry as they finish construction.

I loved this resort and this room category so much I am already thinking of staying here again in the near future.  The resort is great for adults seeking some relaxation in a luxury resort setting, while the suite category provides the opportunity to enjoy a secluded stay–you don’t have to go the pool areas and hunt down a lounger, just hang out on your terrace.

Below I have included a picture gallery of my suite.  Just click on any of the thumbnails for a larger view.  At the end of the picture gallery I have included some shots of swim-outs in buildings 4 and 5 just to show everyone how close the walkway is to the swim-out.

What do you think?  Would you book this suite category?

  1. Is the butler for all the swim-up rooms or a specific building/swim-up room? Does the swim-up pool have a jacuzzi built in too? Looked like it might in the night picture on the side? Looks modern and relaxing!
