I just finished an incredibly stressful month with multiple lengthy business files requested for court-related matters not to mention my business audit which was completed today (thankfully I passed). I always get a bit nervous when my business files get in the hands of lawyers and courts, and anyone who has ever gone through a business audit knows what kind of stress I’m talking about. For those of you who also feel like too much energy is going towards your job, the following info will hopefully redirect that energy into a more peaceful and pleasant channel–finding the perfect swim-up suite for your Cancun/Riviera Maya vacation.
This post will highlight yet another Karisma all-inclusive resort which gets the nod for outstanding swim-up suite room category–definitely a trend…this time it’s at the family-friendly Generations Riviera Maya which is right next to its adults-only sister resort (with another nod for its swim-up suites), El Dorado Casitas Royale.
Generations offers 162 suites; the bottom four floors are swim-ups with a swim-up pool traversing each resort section, while the two top floors have large balconies with sweeping ocean vistas but no swim-ups. In terms of the swim-up suite room categories, the one to get the nod for most outstanding goes to the Oceanfront Two Bedroom Pool Swim-Up Suite. Generations also offers larger families or parties traveling together the opportunity to book an Oceanfront Three Bedroom Pool Swim-Up Suite. These two room categories are on the ground floor with direct access to the main pool where all the resort action typically takes place. The key to booking this ground floor location is the word Pool; you can book other swim-up suites but they will be on floors 2-4.
An important piece of info to remember about this resort is that swim-up pools on floors 2-4 are in shade due to the overhead structure blocking direct sun access; therefore, swim-up pools on these floors will be on the cooler side year round. During winter months they may be unswimmable, and who wants to pay extra to not be able to use a key room amenity. Terrace areas with the daybed on ground floor swim-ups will be in shade generally speaking, but the pool area may be somewhat warmer than other swim-up pools since it gets more sun because it is part of the main pool. (The main pool at this resort is NOT heated).
Let’s not forget the main pool at this resort also has a swim-up bar, if you get a ground floor swim-up you can be at this bar in no time…the only drawback for some may be waiting to order your drink along with lots of kids since this is a family resort.
The multiple bedroom pool swim-ups on the ground floor are comprised of one bedroom swim-up suites with connecting doors; there may be slight variations in floor plans, but the basics are there for everyone. The resort used to also offer one bedroom pool swim-ups, now I see that only two and three bedroom pool swim-ups seem to be offered. The resort also offers amenities for families having very young children–even infants and toddlers are encouraged since the resort offers these children’s amenities:
- cribs
- pack ‘n plays
- changing tables
- infant bathtubs
- strollers
- baby food
- baby bottle warmers and sterilizers
How cool is that? I remember packing everything but the kitchen sink every time I would vacation with small children, now parents can just bring their kid, some diapers, a few sets of clothes, and the resort will provide lots of the other necessities.
Here’s an older video of a one bedroom pool swim-up suite (when the resort used to offer just a one bedroom as well as multiple bedrooms in this category). The video also covers other resort areas so you can get an idea of what the property looks like.
In case you are wondering, the offshore cement blocks are part of Kan-Kanan artificial reef which was a project devised by the Mexican government to prevent beach erosion and provide marine habitat. If you are interested in learning more about this project, you can click this link.
