Grupo Vidanta (a leading tourism developer in Mexico and Latin America) will be opening its first waterpark in the Riviera Maya starting June 22, 2019. The park will be located on the resort property of Vidanta Riviera Maya (not an allinclusive, located north of Playa del Carmen) and it will be available both for guests of the complex as well as the general public. Grupo Vidanta describes it as a “luxury, boutique waterpark” and has named the waterpark Jungala.
Jungala is aimed at the adult market but will include services and attractions for both adults and children including the following:
- four rides including the Aqua Drop, Aqua Loop, Flatline Loop, and Whizzard
- children’s section including Kid’s Waterslide Complex and Aqua Play Rain Forest
- the lengthiest lazy river in Latin America (over half a mile)
- wave pool
- spa treatments available
- VIP cabanas ($) which include sparkling wine, fruit and dessert platters, in-cabin spa treatments, and dedicated wait service
To avoid excessive lines and wait times, guest capacity will be limited. Jungala will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will also offer on-site bars and restaurants as well as shopping opportunities.
