I love Playacar Beach, it’s one of my favorites in the Riviera Maya.  For those of you who don’t know where it’s located, it’s in a gated community just south of Playa del Carmen (the beach can also be accessed by walking south on the beach from Playa del Carmen).  Very swimmable with minor wave action overall, within walking distance to Playa del Carmen (and only a 6-8 min. cab ride from Riu resorts), a smaller shopping area across the road from Riu Palace Mexico/Riu Yucatan, and the gated community makes vacationers feel safer in terms of walking in the area.

I’ve stayed at multiple resorts at this beach location; a lot of the beach, especially the more south you go from PDC, is nothing but all-inclusive resorts one after the other. There are many Riu resorts at Playacar and I have stayed at several.  The person who made this video stayed at the newly renovated Riu Palace Riviera Maya (I stayed at that resort before its renovation), so the video highlights the Riu resorts in the area.  So if you want an overhead pic of what RPRM look like post-renovation with the new pool configuration, this is a great video to see what it looks like.
