For those of you curious about or following the upcoming changes in Playa del Carmen, here’s a new video showing some of the initial projects (new and better beach access from 5th, changes to the popular Parque Fundadores, not sure about the larger cleared out construction spaces, however–does anyone know what is being done there?).
Playa is still basically closed along with all beaches in this area of Mexico–strange to see this bustling city a ghost town along with empty beaches. One surprise for me–I did not realize the Grand Hyatt (which is not an all-inclusive) was so HUGE, it literally dwarfs the adjacent Hilton Playa del Carmen (which is an all-inclusive and used to be THE Royal PDC).
Here’s the video–what do you think? Recognize anything?
Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed that….. would love to have seen if there is still a beach at Panama Jacks… the old Gran Porto, been going there for more than a decade and hoping the hotel has not fallen in the ocean by October when I come back this year 2021..
Is it really that bad??? I haven’t been in that area for awhile…I guess when an area has several tropical storms and two hurricanes within a short period of time, one cannot expect a perfect beach. I would hope they would import some sand and make it vacation ready…
