The city of Playa del Carmen is no longer the sleepy fishing village it once was until the mid ’70’s. It now has a population of over 304,942 (2020 stat) and continues to be a thriving hub for vacationers as well as expats–there is estimated to be over 186,000 expats living full-time/part-time in this city.
While most vacationers don’t see much of the city of Playa del Carmen outside of famous 5th Ave., most don’t know where things are on 5th Ave. Below is a rather short video highlighting how Playa del Carmen’s 5th Ave. is divided up, and where to research more about specific bars, restaurants, etc. that might be of interest during your vacation.
The website Everything Playa del Carmen is run by expats who now live in the area and know quite a bit about how to navigate PDC in a way which will maximize your vacation time and money. Take a look at the video below done by Everything Playa del Carmen and see the highlights of PDC.
I will add one thing, I don’t think the makers of the video included the address of La Tarraya Restaurant, one of the oldest restaurants in PDC. It is located on Calle 2 Norte right on the beach–you can have fresh fish for lunch with your toes in the sand and an ocean view.
What do you think? Have you been to PDC? What did you think?
