The Royal Sands is another Cancun all-inclusive resort perfect for accommodating families of 5+; it is approximately a 20-25 min. drive north of the Cancun airport. This resort is part of Royal Resorts (a timeshare/vacation club or whatever it may be labelled these days), so just keep that in mind when booking this resort. That means that if you are staying over on a Saturday (and you are not a timeshare owner) you just may be asked to change rooms due to owners having first dibs on particular rooms for their dates of stay. Other than that, this is a good choice for basic pool and beach fun in the sun for larger families/parties traveling together.
This resort has two sections–both in the shape of an inverted U facing the beach and they are right next to one another. Both sides of the resort offer a large pool, each with a swim-up bar, while the northern section of the resort has more children’s amenities including a kid’s pool and a new Aqua Park with waterslides. It doesn’t matter which section you are staying at, both sections have access to everything the resort has to offer.
Some of the neat amenities this resort has to offer–two large beachfront Jacuzzis (these were finished during COVID I believe), plus an on-site Royal Market where you can get food and drinks for an extra charge; the convenience factor of that can’t be emphasized enough, especially if you are toting around children on a vacation. There’s a sports bar and a coffee shop, plus a lap pool and a gym for those who are serious about staying in shape even while on vacation. On-site Bartolo’s Pizza will even deliver pizzas to your room–that one is an added cost along with the Royal Market.
Below is a short video done by Stranger In A Strange Land; it highlights a One Bedroom Master Suite since I couldn’t easily find a video on a Two Bedroom Master Suite, but it gives a basic idea of what the room category generally looks like without the extra bedroom. One Bedroom Master Suites only hold 4 people at this resort, while Two Bedroom Master Suites accommodate up to parties of six with its master bedroom, second bedroom with two twin beds, and two single Murphy beds in the living room area. Keep in mind this is an older video, so the drone shots at the beginning don’t show the newer beachfront Jacuzzis or the new children’s water park area.
What do you think? Would you consider staying here?
