Here’s another all-inclusive resort to add to the list of those that cater to larger families–Seadust Cancun Family Resort. This resort is located on an eastern-facing beach in Cancun’s Hotel Zone between Iberostar Selection Coral and what used to be known as the Royal Islander–an excellent location in terms of being fairly close to the Cancun airport (a 15 min. drive) for those families who don’t want to spend another hour getting to a resort after a potentially long flight with children in tow. Vacationers should be aware that this resort, in a way, looks like a cruise ship, both interior and exterior-wise. It’s rather cavernous once you step inside the lobby area, and the sound may carry upwards to some interior hallways which lead to guest rooms. Best to request rooms on higher floors if noise bothers you.
Seadust Cancun has a lot to offer families in terms of amenities. There are 13 floors, 505 rooms, 10 restaurants and 10 bars, three pools (including an adults-only pool), a great water park for children, mini-golf, tennis and multipurpose sports courts, zipline for children, and a Baby Club for ages 18 mos. to 4 yrs. The resort also offers a Kid’s Club for ages 5-12, and a Teen Playroom for ages 13+.
Rooms have recently been renovated at this resort with a specific room category just for families of 5…It’s called Family Suite King or Double. This room has an adjoining area with a bunk bed and trundle configuration, that means three children could be sharing space in one room with 592 sq. feet. It might be a tight squeeze but it will be a $ saver for those who cannot afford two separate rooms or a two bedroom accommodation category.
One thing I must mention about the beach…eastern-facing beaches in Cancun’s Hotel Zone are notorious for rough waves and rip currents. If you are a beach lover like me you will appreciate that the views will be fabulous with the famous turquoise hues of the ocean being almost picture postcard perfect, but there will more than likely be many red-flagged beach days meaning it’s potentially dangerous to get into the water. Just saying…
This resort may be more appropriate for families with younger children; the water park doesn’t have waterslides for older children or adults, and teens may get bored in the Teen Playroom. This resort would be more appropriate for families with children ages 5-12.
Here’s a video done by Sunny South Vacations showing what the Family Suite looks like…What do you think? Would you book this room?
