Like many visitors to this part of Mexico, I have visited Mayan ruins including Tulum and Chichén Itza. The video below showcases aerial views of both as well as the Coba ruins. Here are a few tips regarding the Tulum and Chichén Itza ruins:
- While the main Chichén Itza pyramid can no longer be climbed by visitors, climbing is still allowed at Coba..
- You need a guide at Chichén Itza to make the most of your long trip there and back–it will take you the entire day with the transportation and tour.
- Beware of the heat at Chichén Itza, it’s HOT HOT HOT there and I went in February prior to the real heat of summer.
- Make sure you do the clapping bit by the side of the main pyramid, it really does sound like a bird (see the short video below).
- Tulum can be done in a half day–as long as you’ve got a brief history of the ruins don’t bother hiring a guide because it’s not necessary.
- Tulum ruins has a fantastic beach so don’t forget to bring a swimsuit.
The first video is about pyramid clapping, while the second is the drone video. Be patient for the first 60 seconds of the drone video, the rest is worth it.
