Located 15 min. north of the airport on a great stretch of beach in the Hotel Zone is the Crown Paradise Club. This resort has something for everyone to enjoy while on vacation–from the adult’s-only rooms and amenities to the Kid’s and Teen’s Clubs which provide services for children from age 18 mos. to age 17. While it does market itself as a resort for everyone, however, the Crown Paradise Club does primarily cater to families, especially those with younger children. Those who want more of an adults-only vacation destination may find that this resort is not a good fit.
There is a good reason that the Crown Paradise Club has many returning families with the following amenities to keep children happy during vacation:
- water park with pirate ship, nine water slides, fountains, and hanging bridge
- two separate waterslides which are also adult-friendly
- Baby Paradise kid’s club offering daycare from 18 mos. to age 4 (resorts usually start daycare programs at age 4)
- Jetix Club for teens which offers video gaming, foosball, pool table, air hockey, and bar area serving non-alcoholic drinks
- movie room
- tennis courts
- basketball/football/soccer court
- rock climbing wall (open every day from 9-11 a.m.)
- zipline (open every day from 9-11 a.m.)
- mini-golf
Families are also free to visit Aquaworld marina located five minutes away from the resort for a chance to enjoy pedal boats and kayaks on Nichupte Lagoon.
Adults guests certainly have their own perks at Crown Paradise Club and can enjoy a private pool located on the lagoon side of the resort. This is the only resort pool with a swim-up bar, two separate Jacuzzis, and Bali beds (first-come first-served). There are even scheduled afternoon activities and music at this pool location. Adults who come to Crown Paradise Club without children can enjoy staying in Crown Club Rooms which have an in-room Jacuzzi, entire floors dedicated to adult guests in this room category, and access to a private lounge on the 8th floor with a stellar ocean view. Adults also have a separate buffet seating section, an adults-only French restaurant, and adults-only bar.
While adults have their own special guest room category, families have their choice of where to stay depending on how many members are vacationing at the resort. Large groups will appreciate the space that the Paradise Family Suite offers with its two levels which can accommodate up to seven individuals, while Standard Plus rooms can accommodate up to five individuals with an ocean view to boot. Crown Family Suites can also accommodate up to five individuals but with more space and a location which offers easy access (these suites are located on the ground floor). All family suites have bunk beds and a trundle bed–children up to and including 12 yrs. of age are suitable for these accommodations.
Generally speaking, guest rooms are assigned to one of two resort towers; the only guest room category with rooms in both towers is the Standard Room category. The Paradise Tower, or Tower 1, is located on the north side of the resort and includes the following guest room categories:
- Standard Room
- Standard Plus
- Paradise Family Suite
The Crown Tower, or Tower 2, is located on the south side of the resort and includes the following guest room categories:
- Standard Room
- Crown Family Suite
- Crown Club Room
- Honeymoon Suite
Since this is an older resort, expect longer than normal elevator wait times, some room and elevator maintenance issues, and the remainder of room renovations to be completed.
The Crown Paradise Club offers two beachfront pools including an activities/infinity pool with a large shelf area along with a second smaller pool which has an adjoining shallow children’s section. Sail shades provide the only shade available in this pool area–there are no umbrellas. As a result, lounger “reserving” is at a premium at this resort with guests saving seats very, very early in the morning. Guests looking for a heated pool during the winter months will find a small one in a covered area adjacent to the children’s water park.
Similar to the main pool area, many loungers on the beach also lack shade since there are no actual shade umbrellas or palapas, only canopies with enough space for two loungers underneath. The beach area itself is long and wide with a decent ocean entry; those who want to enter the water should avoid doing so on the south side by Tower 2 since there is more of a drop off. Typical of beaches in this part of the Hotel Zone, ocean waves can be strong with rip currents, so parents need to keep a careful watch over their children. Of special note, there is a beach bar at this resort as well as hammocks on a level right above the beach.
This is a great resort for families looking for bang-for-your buck amenities and services. For those who want to explore more of Cancun, guests can easily catch the public bus to the malls or nightclubs; it also takes under 10 min. to walk north to the El Rey Ruins (a smaller example of Mayan ruins easily accessible to those in the Hotel Zone).

I love your website! Thanks for sharing your experience and information. I’m planning a trip at Christmas for myself, my husband and 2 adult children. Our priorities are a beautiful resort with palm trees, great food, spa, a great pool overlooking the ocean with a swim up bar. I would prefer a room with a balcony or terrace with an oceanview at a resort with an upbeat vibe and entertainment. There are so many resorts that is a bit overwhelming!
Thanks for your suggestions!

Donna: Since I don’t know your budget or if you’d enjoy Cancun or Riviera Maya more I will just throw out several suggestions in both areas. If you have a very healthy travel budget look into Hotel Xcaret Mexico, a stunning resort that meets your criteria and also with park and several excursion prices paid for with the price of your stay. If your budget is healthy, check out Hyatt Ziva Cancun, right on the point in the Hotel Zone. If you want a potentially great beach (if there is no sargassum it is stunning) and lots to do at the resort check out the newer adults-only Barcelo Maya Riviera–it’s got 110 swim-up suites plus the ability to snorkel from the pier or swim with sea turtles over at the Palace at the other end of this megaresort. Hard Rock Cancun may interest you but there may be no vacancies this Christmas–it’s a very popular property, also check out Riu Palace Peninsula if your budget is just average. Not the greatest food overall, but meets the rest of your requirements. I just got back from Riu Palace Peninsula in August and even with COVID it had an upbeat atmosphere, plus if you are into eating lobster there are quite a few restaurants you can get it at for dinner. If you need more suggestions let me know! Have a great vacation!
