All of these constant oven-like temperatures at my home in southern CA have me thinking of water parks; more specifically, water parks in Cancun and the Riviera Maya since I view that area as my second home, lol. (One of my friends recently asked me why I don’t just buy a condo there…of course, a condo doesn’t cook for me, pour me a drink, clean up automatically after me, or make my bed so I much prefer staying at an all-inclusive resort…) While there may be more upscale water parks in the area (think Jungala at Vidanta resort in the Riviera Maya), there is one very large amusement park south of the Hotel Zone in Cancun called Ventura Park which offers much more than pools and waterslides.
Don’t confuse Cancun’s Ventura Park with Barcelo Maya Grand Resort’s own amusement park, Ventura Fly and Ride. Ventura Fly and Ride only has some amenities currently going, so that park is limited in terms of what it has to offer. Ventura Park has the following attractions:
- Wet ‘n Wild Water Park which offers multiple waterslides, a lazy river, wave pool, and water play area for young children.
- three ziplines
- bungee swing
- free fall jump
- aerial bridge
- kid-friendly fun area with small roller coaster, merry-go-round, crazy chairs, and playground.
- Dolphinaris (some people may have objections about dolphins in captivity, but others may want to take advantage of this kind of activity while on vacation).
- arcade including virtual reality games
- laser games
- go-kart track
- food and drink
You will have to bring extra money to come to this park–lockers are an extra cost, and renting a floating ring for the lazy river is an extra cost.
Ventura Park offers different packages to purchase starting at $43.85 p/adult up to $97.51 p/adult for the VIP pass. You can get a much better deal if you purchase your tickets online.
