I took notes since I arrived/departed from the new Terminal 4 at the Cancun airport during my spring vacation. Here are the confirmed airlines operating out of this new terminal:
- Aeromexico
- Air Europa
- Air France
- Air Transat
- Condor
- Eurowings
- Frontier
- Icelandair
- Interjet
- Southwest
- Sun Country
- Thomas Cook
- WestJet
The new terminal offers a currency exchange, convenience store, and a restaurant on the lower level, while the upstairs section after you go through security offers lots of restaurants and specialty stores, just like Terminal 3. While I was able to grab a sandwich from Wolfgang Puck’s prior to boarding (dinner problem solved), there were many people doing sit-down meals at the restaurants.
When we arrived around 4 p.m. on a Saturday, it took us a total of 20 min. max to get our bags and go through Customs–it looked totally deserted. The “red light green light” system is no more so you don’t have to worry about wasting time randomly having your baggage checked upon arrival. Our return flight experience at the same terminal was similar to Terminal 3–packed with musical chairs prior to boarding with the changing of assigned Gates. I hated the chairs, they didn’t seem to accommodate one’s natural spinal alignment. So be prepared to get up and move around if you have a lengthy time at the terminal.
