I get quite a few inquiries requesting information about all-inclusive resorts that can accommodate families of 5 or more…Many existing resorts can only comfortably accommodate families of 4 but obviously not all families vacationing together only consist of 2 parents and 2 children–it’s become quite a vacation trend for multigenerational family vacations where there are lots of people wanting to stay together in close proximity to one another.
So I’ve decided to highlight all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya which can meet this travel need. Let’s start out with a property I stayed at back when the resort first opened in 2017–Dreams Playa Mujeres. DPM offers a couple of larger guest rooms perfect for larger families; the first one I want to mention is their Villa section.
Preferred Club 2 Bedroom Villas can accommodate 8 guests; there are two queen beds in the second bedroom, a king bed in the primary bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room area. Villas are located in the very back of the property behind the lazy river, but since the property is more compact with all guest room buildings surrounding the pool areas it is not such a lengthy walk to other resort amenities and the beach area. Since I enjoyed the lazy river on several occasions while staying at this resort I can attest that the walk is very doable so don’t let that discourage you from booking this room category. Given their location, villas are private but can experience more noise levels during the day since they are close to the lazy river. This room category also offers 2 1/2 baths plus a terrace Jacuzzi, a great amenity since everyone who visits resorts knows that children tend to congregate in Jacuzzis–they are easy to access and very swimmable for younger children due to the depth factor.
Villas are considered to be an upgraded Preferred Club guest room category; that means you get private check-in/out at the private Preferred Club Lounge, access to the lounge for additional snacks and drinks, access to breakfast at an a la carte restaurant (the items I ordered were delicious, by the way), access to select poolside Bali beds, access to the private beach section including Bali beds with its own bar (no extra charge for Bali bed use)–I loved those Bali beds because they were so relaxing plus very close to the water, and you also get access to the lazy river which is literally right outside of your terrace area.
Below is a video of this room category done by All Inclusive Reviews; I found it to be very thorough and gives the viewer a great idea of what staying in this room category would be like. Again, don’t be discouraged with the distance factor, it is not that long a walk to the beach from here. So, what do you think? Would this be on your options list if you have a larger family on vacation together?
