For anyone thinking of booking one of Hotel Xcaret’s properties or if you already have a reservation, be aware that there are several new changes in resort policy that have recently occurred. Some of these policy changes have to do with the parent company’s decision to have both Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Hotel Xcaret Arte operate as entirely separate resorts which means a cut off or elimination of benefits which encourage exchange benefits of staying at one resort and enjoying the other resort’s amenities. I’m going to jump right into it, so here’s the short list:
- Treat your resort wristband like it’s gold, because if anything happens to it you will be charged a whopping $470 USD p/bracelet.
- Are you a fan of Las Cuevas brunch over at Hotel Xcaret Mexico? If you are staying at Hotel Xcaret Arte in a Jr., Master, or Presidential Suite you will no longer have free access to the brunch prior to 3 p.m. If you choose to go earlier than that you will be paying $265 p/person.
- The nightclub at Arte won’t open at 8 p.m. anymore, it will open at 10 p.m.
- Guests staying in the adults-only Casa de los Artistas section at Hotel Xcaret Arte no long have access to Hotel Xcaret Mexico.
- Instead of advance reservations at parks and select amenities being able to be secured 60 days prior to arrival, guests will only be allowed to make advance reservations 30 days prior to arrival. I’m not sure how this affects guests who have reserved their booking on a pay plan with a wholesaler (you used to only be able to make property/excursion reservations once your booking was paid in full).
I also heard that this company is in the process of changing how reservations are made, but there are no known details about what this will entail.
I love Hotel Xcaret properties (well, I do think that the Mexico property has been somewhat ruined by their massive expansion that has doubled it size), but Arte is a gem and I would hate to see it impacted in a negative way by changes. Let’s hope these changes work out well for guests as well as management.
