Curious about the general “look” of the new Panama Jack resorts coming to Cancun and Playa del Carmen? Here are a few photos to whet your decorating appetite. And by the way, they are now open for bookings.
Palladium Hotels and Resorts has renamed The Royal Suites Yucatan by Palladium; it will be called TRS Yucatan Hotel by Palladium. The rebranding will involve guest room renovations, guest rooms with a private pool, the addition of an infinity pool and Ibiza-style beach club, and new dining venues. Additional staff will be hired in order to provide a higher level of customer service. This part of the Palladium resort complex will remain adults-only.
To those of you familiar with Panama Jack products (sunglasses, tanning oil, beach clothing, etc.), it may be of interest to note that Playa Hotels and Resorts has partnered with said company in order to launch Panama Jack’s brand into Mexico’s all-inclusive market. Both the Gran Caribe and Gran Porto Resorts will be rebranded with the Panama Jack name (Panama Jack Gran Caribe/Panama Jack Gran Porto)–the resorts will officially use the name in the last quarter of 2017 following a multi-million dollar refurbishment.
For those of you looking for a boutique resort in the heart of Playa del Carmen just off of 5th Ave., check out Hotel Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa del Carmen. This luxury resort opened December 2015 and is located just off of 5th Ave. and Calle 32 Norte; it is walking distance from Mamita’s Beach Club and steps from Playa del Carmen’s action. Hotel Live Aqua also offers discounted admission to both Mamita’s and Kool beach clubs in Playa del Carmen.
Sorry families, the Beloved Playa Mujeres is scheduled to become an adults-only resort come Sept. 1, 2016. The resort is planning on adding more features and amenities geared towards an adults-only group of vacationers, but this info. is yet to come.
The newest family-friendly all-inclusive addition to the Hyatt brand opened on time November 15, 2015, without any delays of services or amenities. Hyatt Ziva Cancun spent $85 million on the expansion and renovation of the old Dreams Cancun in the beautiful Punta Cancun area of the Hotel Zone. A few amenities which make this resort stand out in a sea of all-inclusives are the onsite microbrewery, rooftop pool for adults-only, and swim-up suites, most with ocean view. To find out more about this lovely resort, check out the following link.
This newly renovated, re-branded resort seems to be mostly off the radar–I’ve heard lots about the newly renovated Riu Playacar and the soon to be open Secrets Akumal, but rarely have I seen articles or advertisements about the new family-friendly Hyatt Ziva Cancun. This resort used to be the old Dreams Cancun located on the tip of Punta Cancun–a great location since it’s a walkable distance to the popular nightclubs at Plaza Forum yet far enough away from the noise as to be quiet at night. Here is a brief listing of its features and amenities: Continue reading
The new addition to Karisma’s El Dorado Seaside Suites will open for business winter 2015 after a lengthy renovation project. Originally, it was slated to open Nov. 1 but the opening date has been delayed to sometime in winter 2015 (guesses are sometime in December). In actuality, this new addition will become the new El Dorado Seaside Suites while the older property will now be referred to as Sensimar Seaside Suites and Spa. The “old” El Dorado Seaside Suite section appears to be under contract with Tui (a German-based travel company) which sells packages mostly to European clients (Thomson is a big seller of Tui-contracted properties). Karisma already has a Sensimar section at El Dorado Royale and all guests are allowed to use the Tui facilities in contracted sections. While the “old” EDSS rooms are slated for the European market, the new EDSS resort is open to everyone. All guests were originally supposed to receive a complimentary upgrade to the new section, but since the opening has been delayed, it is unclear at this time whether the upgrade will be taking place once the new EDSS opens and how long it will last.
Generations Maroma is in the process of transferring all of its amenities to its sister resort and adjacent property, El Dorado Maroma. According to its parent company, Karisma Hotels and Resorts, Generations Maroma is adding its suites, Chakay restaurant, and bars to the pre-existing El Dorado Maroma property due to the “overwhelming demand of El Dorado Maroma”. Generations Riviera Maya, a family-friendly resort success, will absorb the bookings meant for Generations Maroma.
Akumal Bay Resort lovers take heart! Renovations are just about complete at the (practically) all new Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. The resort is almost fully functional with some small exceptions–the elevator in guest room building #2 isn’t quite done, and the self-serve guest laundry facility behind building #2 is being completed as well. Everything else is open for business!
