All Ritmo Cancun Resort and Waterpark

All Ritmo Cancun Resort and Waterpark, formerly known as Sea Adventure Resort and Waterpark, is an older resort located north of downtown Cancun in Puerto Juarez.  It sits next to the Hacienda del Mar Marina where guests may rent a boat or yacht for excursions or private events; the resort is also a ten minute cab ride to the Isla Mujeres ferry (the Ultramar ferry terminal).  All Ritmo is divided into two sections–the beachfront section with the lobby, pool, and Jr. Suites, and the back section on the other side of the roadway which includes the water park, sports activities, theater, small pool, and more guest rooms.  A tunnel located underneath the roadway makes it easy and safe for guests to access all resort amenities.

All Ritmo is a good vacation spot for families with younger children since many amenities are oriented towards four to ten year olds.  The main attraction here is the water park which includes mushroom waterfalls, smaller slides, and water jets, while children over age six will enjoy the longer waterslides and overhead bucket which regularly drops a large amount of water from 40 feet in the air.  Since children under age six are expected to be supervised, there are a fair number of loungers surrounding the water park for parents to use along with a nearby bar and snack counter.  The water park is open from Wednesday to Monday (it is closed for cleaning and maintenance every Tuesday); admission is free for guests, while non-guests must pay a small entrance fee.  Next to the water park are additional activity areas including a soccer field, tennis courts, archery, and multipurpose courts for such sports as basketball.  A mini-golf course is also nearby.

Guests who may tire of the water park may also want to try out the main pool which is located close to the lobby.  The pool has three built-in Jacuzzis and a swim-up bar, while the shallower children’s section is immediately adjacent in its own separate pool area.  There is an adjoining wooden sundeck which offers loungers and shade palapas and has a great view of the ocean and Marina.  Guests staying on the other side of the roadway by the water park also have a pool of their own–it is small but it is located close to guest room buildings.

The beach is not the greatest at All Ritmo; it varies in width (some oceanfront areas have lots of sand while others barely have room for one row of loungers), while ocean entry can be rough due to some larger rocks and coral.  Bring water shoes just in case.  Ocean swimmers will have to deal with the nearby Marina and all that entails for swimmers (although a swimming area is clearly delineated with markers), and there can be a problem with recurring accumulations of sea grass.  Overall, what saves the beach are the multitude of daybeds and Bali bed (including swinging Bali beds–first-come first-served) which line most of the beachfront.  There are some palm trees for natural shade in addition to shade palapas, and of course regular loungers can also be found.  Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the hobie cats, kayaks, and paddle boards for daytime fun.

While there are only two rooms categories (Standard Room and Jr. Suite), not all have been fully renovated leaving some guests to wonder if they were in the same resort as the photos they had seen on the website.  While Jr. Suites have more space with ocean views, some families come to the resort looking for water park fun and so Standard rooms may work out best for them.  While all rooms have a balcony, some balconies have solid half-walls which definitely minimize the view; some rooms have a Juliet balcony which only allows guests to stand just outside their sliding glass door.  At this resort it’s best to ask to see the room prior to accepting its assignment.

Since All Ritmo is far from Cancun’s nightlife and shopping, onsite entertainment consists of nightly theater shows (there is a buffet in the theater on Saturday night), a mini-disco for the children at 8 p.m., and a games room with foosball and pool.  Resort staff used to escort guests to Cancun’s nightclubs for VIP service–ask at check-in whether this service is still available if interested.  Guests who want a little daytime variety can always take a ten minute walk to the El Meco ruins, a little-known or visited Mayan archaeological site.
