What’s The Storm Projection For This Hurricane Season In The Caribbean?

I don’t typically travel to the Caribbean during hurricane season, but I have done it before and think it’s always a good idea to know what you may be facing if you book way in advance for travel to this area.  I got stuck once in Cancun for one day due to a bad tropical storm, got rained out on one vacation (nothing but gray skies and rain), and when I visited my very first all-inclusive in Jamaica many (many) years ago I had predictable rain for 1 hr. every day after lunch.  And my travel agent at the time never warned me that I was traveling during hurricane season…

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island Still Set To Open April 1, 2024…

Hyatt’s newest adults-only resort, Hyatt Vivid Grand Island, is still scheduled to open April 1, 2024.  It will be the first of a two-part resort to open with the second being an adjoining family-friendly resort option called Dreams Grand Island, but the Dreams resort is still being completed and will not open at the same time.  When it does open, guests of the new Hyatt will have access to the second resort–stay at one play at two. I already posted an article about the new Hyatt and you can read it here.

If you’ve been reading my recent posts you already know that I took a 10 day solo vacay in the Riviera Maya in Dec. 2023.  This video is my swim-up room at the last resort I stayed at, Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya.  This property used to be Secrets Capri; the resort was closed for complete renovations and reopened Dec. 1, 2022 as a Hyatt Zilara property (all Hyatt Zilara resorts are adults-only, while Hyatt Ziva are family-friendly resorts).  The room category shown in the video is a Tropical View Swim-Up King.

With its grand opening on Feb. 1, 2024, Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres rolled out the red carpet for their guests at this brand new adults-only luxury all-inclusive resort.  If you are thinking of staying here, remember that this resort will be opening its amenities in stages–only 341 out of 507 rooms available, Oceana restaurant not supposed to be available until the end of Feb., resort amenities not available until April 1 (theater, tennis and pickleball courts, rest of rooms), while the spa and gym are not supposed to be open until June 1.
