If you’ve ever traveled with a child or teen you know that keeping them occupied with interesting activities along with the opportunity to make new friends can either make or break a vacation. With family vacations on the rise again, there is a renewed interest in resorts which offer the most quality child/teen friendly amenities to help ensure that everyone in the family is happy. Generations Maroma is in the process of transferring all of its amenities to its sister resort and adjacent property, El Dorado Maroma. According to its parent company, Karisma Hotels and Resorts, Generations Maroma is adding its suites, Chakay restaurant, and bars to the pre-existing El Dorado Maroma property due to the “overwhelming demand of El Dorado Maroma”. Generations Riviera Maya, a family-friendly resort success, will absorb the bookings meant for Generations Maroma.
Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort is almost completely done with their massive renovation project. Penthouse Jr. Suites are completed, and all but one elevator has been installed with the exception of the elevator in guest room building #2. A self-serve laundry will eventually be installed behind guest room building #2, but the resort does not have a completion date on that yet. The spa is all done including the fitness center and yoga space.
Slated to open Nov. 1, 2015, the new Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya will be offering 434 guest rooms including Romance Suites and oceanfront swim-outs. There will be six bars, six a la cartes, a buffet, a café, and grill, along with the Desires Lounge with both indoor and outdoor areas. It is located immediately adjacent to the newly renovated Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort right on Akumal Bay which is just a short walk from the quaint little town of Akumal.
The Riu Playacar is completely shutting down from April 27, 2015, to Oct. 10, 2015. There are many rumors bandied about as to what exactly will be done to the resort during this renovation, but no final word. The fact that it is being re-opened almost six months after its closure would suggest that it is a thorough renovation, not a complete teardown (originally, the resort was supposed to be closed for one year to make it an adults-only Riu Palace property). Time will tell–check back for further information on this matter!
