The popular news magazine, US World and News Report, just came out with their pick of the top 34 hotels in Mexico. Here are the Cancun/Riviera Maya all-inclusives which were included in that report along with their ranking: Continue reading
I just discovered this very nice media presentation of the proposed renovations to Karisma’s Azul Fives resort in the Riviera Maya. There’s not much information out there that I have found as to the exact status of all these renovations, but at least one can get a good idea of what it is supposed to look like when completed. Just click the arrows below the pictures when you want to advance or go back.
Akumal Bay Resort lovers take heart! Renovations are just about complete at the (practically) all new Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. The resort is almost fully functional with some small exceptions–the elevator in guest room building #2 isn’t quite done, and the self-serve guest laundry facility behind building #2 is being completed as well. Everything else is open for business!
It is finally official, as of January 17, 2015, the beach areas have been reassigned between the Sian Ka’an and the Coba resorts at Grand Bahia Principe resort in the Riviera Maya. Guests staying at Sian Ka’an will now be spending their beach time next to the Akumal resort’s beach (the old Coba beach), while Coba guests will now be using the Holbox beach bar and bathroom areas (the old Sian Ka’an beach). This makes much more sense given the changes which have occurred since the Akumal resort made the switch to the Luxury Don Pablo collection.
I came across this map of the renovated Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort (formerly referred to as ABR). Have a look!
Royalton Resorts (under the parent company of the luxury brand Blue Diamond Hotels and Resorts) recently opened the doors to its newest all-inclusive resort, Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa. Within this new complex lies an adults-only haven called HIDEAWAY at Royalton. With the recent opening of several new and extensively renovated resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, the Royalton Riviera Cancun’s opening has been more “under the radar” for American clientele–it seems to have been more widely advertised in both the UK and Canadian markets. For those interested in another new luxury resort, here is a brief synopsis of the property along with some pictures.
Progress is definitely occurring in the completion of the renovation work at the old ABR. According to recent reports, guest room work is nearing completion on the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms, and the Penthouse Rooftop Suites may be finished by mid January 2015. I came across an excellent slideshow of resort pics (courtesy Vancouversundog on Trip Advisor)–the password required is ABR. Check out this link to see the slideshow. Also, check out this link to see a post of the most recent dates of completion.
